This was quite obviously this guy’s first fansub. There are a few hiccups as a result.

File size: 204 MB

Release format: MKV

Japanesiness: Not really. It’s kind of a French anime. There are TL notes on certain French words, though.

Important note: The font is the default aegisub font and it is hideous and small. TL Notes are included at the end of lines, enclosed in []. There are no chapters and there is no typesetting. I could’ve easily taught this guy how to do all of that in 30 minutes, as could most fansubbers. Note to prospective fansubbers: If you need help with how to understand something, just ask someone.

OP/ED. At least it was translated.

Typesetting.

It’s not a single word. Also, you need a period here. “Thank you.” What’s sad is that this isn’t actually a mistake. It’s just ignorance. “Thankyou” is repeated three times in this episode.

Example of how the TL Notes look.

memento. Momento is Spanish for moment.

glass-roofed and freshly-picked

I feel kinda bad for picking on the lack of a comma here when there are so many other things wrong with this release.

“You might be, but I’m not.”

They are killing off the specialist shops

much like these subs are killing the English language.

Don’t randomly add dashes like that.

Side-step all arguments over whether it’s “Paris’s” or “Paris'” and just say “This is the stomach of Paris,”

That’s…

O_0

Maybe “I know it tastes good!” is a more accurate translation.

Not quite sure myself.

Watchability: Not really watchable. Unless you’re really not bothered by the terrible font and presentation of the subtitles, I don’t recommend wasting your time on this.

Overall grade: D-

I feel bad for picking on a new one-man sub group, but I gotta call ’em as I see ’em. This may qualify as an F in most peoples’ books, but I’d feel too guilty about picking on Nemui if I did that. Yeah, I’m a pussy.

  1. Abbreviations generally use periods. Try “Mr. Oscar”. This is an error that occurs quite frequently.

Except Mister>MR is a contraction. Contractions generally don’t use periods unless you’re following American rules.

    • Oh, really? I apologize. I didnt know it was a difference of British English vs. American English. Review updated.

  2. Nemui… I can’t remember, but was that the name of the person in the comments a while ago who said he was going to get into fansubbing this season? The guy who said he hoped to be A-tier?
