Good gods, this OVA was boring.

Release format: MKV (210 MB, 10-bit)

Japanesiness: No honorifics.

Encoding: Shit. But it was a webrip, so what can you expect?

Group website: http://commiesubs.com/

8thsin’s translation critique: http://8ths.in/winter-2011-anime-subtitle-comparison/#Kyousougiga

Ji-hi’s screenshot comparisons: N/A

Karaoke.

Ending (there was no opening). Yeah, they put a lot of effort into subbing this.

Typesetting.

Can’t say I was blown away by anything here (except the title’s typesetting), but at least they subbed it.

Script.

This is the first time I’ve ever seen “Gotcha” with an apostrophe. I hope it’s also the last because this is wrong.

“Think on your actions”? Really? What Engrish.

And why is “Lady” capitalized? You guys didn’t capitalize “man” on the line before.

Too long for the allotted time.

Change it to “I held it in.” on the second line. Here’s a comparison between the two and how the response is actually read by someone who’s literate.

What did you do until now?

{Until now, I} Hold it in.

vs.

What did you do until now?

{Until now,} I held it in.

Come on!

-something

+anything

This makes no sense. Here’s what she’s saying:

Line 1: Should we pity plucked flowers?

Line 2: Isn’t withering also pitiable?

But flowers wither whether or not they’ve been plucked. So the second line makes no point whatsoever. I don’t know whether this is poor editing or just a derp translation, but it sure as hell ain’t right.

They spend the entire episode talking about “Capital” shit, so why is this “Capitol”? I’m betting on a typo here.

This is not how humans speak.

“Ever since you came back, the Gion Festival has been taking place every single day.”

No! Please stop speaking like robots that were programmed to be retarded.

“But I don’t think it’s nice”

Watchability: Watchable.

Overall grade: C+

There are some really stupid mistakes here that speakers of the English language should not be making. Can’t say I felt this release was all that great.
