Doremi’s up next for Precure. Yes, I like doing Precure reviews. Glad to see it’s oversubbed instead of single-subbed like Fresh was.

Release format: MKV (477 MB, 8-bit), AVI (189 MB)

Japanesiness: No honorifics. Japanese name order.

Scene bleeds: Like it’s going out of style.

Group website: http://www.doremi-fansubs.com/ (site appears to be down right now)

8thsin’s translation critique: N/A

Ji-hi’s screenshot comparisons: N/A

Karaoke.

Opening. The Japanese is hardsubbed, but that doesn’t mean you need to stick with Arial or whatever font you’re using here. It doesn’t look very good.

Ending. Same critique as the opening.

Typesetting.

Guys, typesetters aren’t THAT rare. Or you could always learn how to do it yourselves…

Script.

Two pixels down. That’s all you needed. How fucking lazy can you get?

You might need a few more pixels down for this one, but really. It’s not that fucking hard.

Overlap text, anyone? Am I speaking in riddles to the Precure subbers? This isn’t rocket science. Also, some English would be nice.

“Oh no, I can’t be wandering around here.”

Because jokes are the best when people can’t understand them!

1. Learn

2. to

3. list.

“That’s Midorikawa Nao. She’s good at sports, responsible, and very sentimental.”

everyday is an adjective. You’re looking for “every day”. Ex: “Every day, fansubbers screw up ordinary, everyday subtitles. It makes me want to run them over with a lawn mower.”

“I look for that happiness every day!”

This seems like something the British would say, but I’m not sure. Any Britfags wanna confirm/deny this line sounds right?

And these subs are are full of mistakes!

“…the bookstore in the shopping district?”

Perhaps they do say “street”, but a “shopping street” sounds like a silly concept. If there’s a specific area for shops, we’re gonna tend toward calling it a “shopping district”.

What the fuck?

No.

No.

Slang’s okay, but it has to fucking fit. This does not. At all.

This implies the doll is stuffed with lamb meat. That wouldn’t be a very good doll at all.

“Whoa! That stuffed lamb doll started talking!”

Watchability: Watchable.

Overall grade: B-

Doremi’s script was definitely better edited than Aesir’s was and there were far fewer stupid errors. But there was no typesetting, the kara wasn’t exactly impressive, and the script failed to impress me like Aesir’s did. I’m gonna recommend going with Aesir.

  1. “Thanks, but don’t you have club?”
Not really Britfag but shouldn’t it be “”Thanks, but don’t you have a club?” or “Thanks, but don’t you have club activities?”?

  2. I can’t believe there are people still stuck on the idea of karaoke and whatnot being integral to the show. The Ariel font does the job just fine, you’re not supposed to be paying attention to the font over the actual action on the show, anything else would be distracting.

  3. The font’s actually Trebuchet MS, looks much better than Arial in my opinion.

And for episode 2 and on I actually shifted the subs below the scrolling text, so woot for constructive criticism.
