This show makes me wanna stick my dick in a fucking basketball. It’s that good.

Also, Sutai will provide his typesetting expertise… for like five signs.

Ha, fooled you. He only talked about four signs. >:3

Opening.

Ending. I’d say the issue is that it’s a bit too blue.

Overall, I can’t say I liked the OP or ED. Neither looked like they had any effort put into them, and they didn’t seem to fit the theme of the videos or the pace of the music. Thumbs down on this one, guys.

Typesetting.

<&Sutai> The font for “Kuroko no” is wrong, should be a Serif/Mincho.
<&Sutai> I’d use a gradient on “Kuroko no,” too.
<&Sutai> and the shadow is overblurred.
<&Sutai> About Basuke
<&Sutai> I’d use fax instead of italics, it’d look closer.
<&Sutai> The shadow is way too big.
<&Sutai> everything is overblurred.
<&Sutai> That’s about it.
<&Sutai> And that logo is useless.
<&Sutai> Colors are all off too.
<&Sutai> Looks like it was ts’d to the wrong colorspace.
<&Sutai> I don’t understand that basketball there.
<&Sutai> http://puu.sh/BdWb
<&Sutai> ;~;

<&Sutai> Ok.
<&Sutai> Why’s that shadow even there?
<&Sutai> :~:
<&Sutai> Where’s “Episode 2” or whatever?
<&Sutai> The font is not awesome, but it’s okay.

<&Sutai> maybe blur0.5.
<&Sutai> Huh.
<&Sutai> Just place it in the green space if you don’t want to cover and redraw the newspaper.
<&Sutai> Font is meh.
<&Sutai> But I don’t think hadena could do any better
<&Sutai> I don’t know what they were trying to fit
<&Sutai> but they failed

<~Dark_Sage> I thought the gradient on this was all right, but they could have mocha’d it a bit more with a blurshift.
<&Sutai> what are you talking about?
<~Dark_Sage> Just trying to be a typesetter too ;_;
<&Sutai> Aha.
<&Sutai> Hadena an8’d that sign?
<&Nightowl64> lol
<&Sutai> Is it static?
<~Dark_Sage> yeah
<&Sutai> I guess they aren’t into covering because :weeaboos:
<&Sutai> But yeah
<&Sutai> you could just cover the japanese text.
<&Sutai> Or place it in the door.
<&Sutai> If you really don’t want to cover the sacred japanese runes.

Great timing.

Main Script.

You’re not using this verb right.

Just go with “help” here.

I know 8:40 is slang for rohypnol, but how do you roofy a roof?

“I’ll only accept your form if you meet me Monday at 8:40 on the roof.” which is still meh. I’d much rather have something kawaii like

“8:40. Monday morning. The roof. Give me your form then.”

He’s a guy with no presence, much like these are subs with no editing. Make “no presence” into an adjective here.

“no-presence guy like him the phantom sixth man?”

They’re not “second graders”, you stupid fucking shitheads. Call ’em sophomores (or “second-years” if you have to).

She’s using “some day” in the sense of “maybe Hadena will be a decent group some day, but today’s not that day.”

someday -> some day

No! You don’t fucking use commas for non-grammatical pauses! Bad Hadena! Bad!

What kind of school? A big-shot school. Still, big-shot is a pretty shitty adjective here. Go with top-tier.

“I wonder who we’re playing against.”

Wonder is just another random fucking verb, so what’s with all these shitty groups immediately thinking “Holy shit, ‘wonder’ is in this line?! Oh fucking god. Okay, okay. Calm down. Just gotta remember the golden rule ‘question marks whenever you see words expressing doubt’. All right, got this. Time to fuck some English up.”

What’s apostrophe from the Book of Punctuation doing here?

all-rounder works, so why’d you say utility player here and contradict the typesetting?

They never what?

“They never made fun of me.”

Straight CR ripping. ._.

What’s the difference between a catch-up reunion and a regular reunion? Oh, there is none? This is just shitty English? Well, then…

The fuck is an imitation trick?

“That isn’t a simple imitation.”

Hadena, all you had to do was spend 30 minutes editing CR’s script for a fucking excellent script. What a fucking shame you didn’t, because you’re the only group on this (surprisingly decent) show.

Xythar says:

I swear a couple of those signs (the an8 library and the next episode preview) are done in the default HorribleSubs font for this show.

Jeffrey-sama says:

I just checked and I think you’re right about the library sign. In fact, the sign itself was a direct rip from HS.

Beckett says:

God dammit Hadena are the only ones on this? I’ve been putting off this show hoping there was someone else doing it I didn’t know about, I’ll probably just skip it entirely if that’s the case.

Dark_Sage says:

They’re using a Crunchyroll translation as their base, so maybe just go with HorribleSubs.

njd09 says:

I’ll second that. I’ve watched all 10 episodes so far from HorribleSubs, and it’s been quite enjoyable. No reason to DL this over HS imo.

puddizzle says:

So I was bored and watched an episode of this on TV.

Holy fuck, that shit is good.

lauren says:

omg the name of the high school is seirin. there’s another basketball anime with the school name seirin but the kanji is different.

Dark_Sage says:

I propose the name be changed to Seinen. Thoughts?

Kamica says:

It’s common for sports team names in anime to be the same. For example, there’s Seishuu High in both Major and Cross Game.
