Visual Quality

Karaoke.

Opening. Tons of fucking effects with bouncing k-timing. Yes, it gets annoying when every fucking syllable spazzes out like it has Parkinson’s.

Ending. This was pretty good. The text floats away and the colors/font are a reasonable choice for the slow-paced song.

Typesetting.

Other.

The font is way too fucking big. It’s really goddamn annoying.

Script Quality

Karaoke.

The karaoke for the OP/ED was all right.

Main Script.

Goes by way too fast. Stick to “Just Tanaka will do.”

Two complete sentences can’t be forced together with just a comma; it won’t hold. This is the equivalent of tying up a hostage with silly string.

“All of you don’t” sounds so fucking bad.

“None of you understand how much…”

“the Alphas” doesn’t make sense cuz it’s only one dude and that’s his name. This is like saying “The symbol of the Nicholas!”

But “san” isn’t a term of address; it’s an honorific…

“Please… don’t bother with the ‘-san’.”

Get your tenses to fucking match.

“First you say don’t kill him, and then you say do kill him.”

That loser is dead, so get the tense to fucking match.

“Hah! That loser wasn’t my big brother!”

No need for a comma here.

Why is the “you know” part there? It adds nothing to the line.

Timing Review

Incoming. When “Timing Critique” is added as a category, you’ll know this part is done.

Results.

Watchability: Watchable.

Timing Grade:

Visual grade: B-

Script grade: B

Overall grade (timing results not factored in): B

It’s unfortunate that whoever chose the font was sniffing glue at the time, but them’s the breaks. If you want better visuals, go with Doki’s release. Otherwise, I’d say go with Hats-Tsuki’s release for Zetman. Not that the difference between Hats-Tsuki/Doki/WhyNot is all that big though.

  1. Hey Dark Sage. can I ask you a favor, I’m not trying to rush you or anything but when Sword Art Online premiere’s, can you review it because there’s going to be a difficult choice to choose who’s to watch, there’s going to Commie, Evetaku, and probably UTW, and they are all good groups.

I kid, you can actually rely on Commie to be decent at worst (I do anyway).

If you’re talking about pre-airs, I don’t think D_S reviews them (for a good reason).

If you simply want him to review Sword Art Online first, then there’ll be a poll (maybe), or he’ll do whatever he wants. That said, reviewing series with the most competition is a good idea, I’d suggest it in the post he made recently about improving his reviewing.

        • Eveyuu are slowsub and have good editors, so I’d expect them to be very good.

Like I said Commie should get at least a B, but as their editing with Hyouka shows, it could be A tier.

UTW have their reputation, and can be A-tier, but as their Accel World grade shows it isn’t guaranteed.

I’d go with UTW until D_S makes his reviews.

        • Evetaku holds the advantage at the clubhouse turn, Commie is rank running, UTW in hand at the rear. UTW staff had no blow out this season.

Evetaku needing a rabbit, Commie lugging in and drifting out too much, UTW still green. Commie checked trying to show D_S up, currently hung. Evetaku attempting going away.

Eighth pole advantage to Evetaku, followed by Commie, a hasty turn of foot could ruin either’s chances. Commie set down trying for Garrison finish.

          *closes tab of racing terms*

    • Those three groups will have great quality, so you should go with the one that fits your tastes best. If you prefer honorifics, go with either EveTaku/UTW; if not, go with Commie.
