Sequels and shorts. Contain that hype. Part 3 to come after Sakura-con (aiming for Monday night since I’ll be stuck in an airport with nothing better to do).

Spinoffs/Sequels

The general rule of thumb for these is “if you liked the original, watch this and be disappointed”. As a result, I’m not gonna bother with much standard commentary here. Ignore the silence.

I can’t wait for the sub reviews because it’s hard to watch both with one obviously beating the other.

      • Just my two cents…CR>>FFF>>>Commie. Commie is really bad. FFF is bad. CR is the most appropriate for this show. Liberalization is minimal, no addition of nonexistent lines, and the valley/bro talk is where it was in S1…in the FFF and Commie release.

          • FFF sheep. If you seriously think FFF isn’t taking massive liberties with how they are handling this show then idk what to tell you. Ah yes, FFF sheep.

            • Recall…I said appropriate for this show. While the job done is not “bad” according to our perceived definition as it is very watchable, it is incredibly annoying to watch/read. Call it weeb. It’s liberalization.

              • do you actually know japanese or are you just one of those weebs who can pick out words being said then go all “thats not whats said!”?

              • Everything has to do with perspective. If you like localized subs, anything not localized is weeb. Though, it’s slowly beginning to change to the point where many idiots are calling unlocalized translations a mistranslation.
On the other side, those who like unlocalized translations call anything localized “filled with memes”. It doesn’t matter if the localization choice has memes in it or not: it still is called a meme if it is a liberal localization.

                • In most cases localising works fine, but there are some cases in which it’s better to avoid localising too much. That aside, idiots are everywhere. I believe localising jokes/puns that are otherwise incomprehensible should not be criticised.

Morons like Vega will be always around though.

          • Anime still has audio. If you know just a little Japanese, it’s jarring to hear a pun then see something utterly removed from it in the translation.

Book or manga translations are different though.

            • It would be if the intended joke can’t be literally translated to English without losing details, or completely replace it with a near-equivalent English pun/joke. And we have to admit, there is no perfect translation for every phrase we hear. We just have to rely on TLs’ creativity and wide range of vocabulary. Puns and jokes are supposed to be funny, after all.

Yet, I agree with you with that. That’s quite bothersome.

            • If you know enough Japanese to understand a pun/joke, you should have no problem at disregarding the subtitles for that specific line, or edit it out yourself.

            • If you know enough Japanese to understand a pun/joke, you should be able to understand why nobody wants to translate Japanese humour.
