Main Script.

NITPICK

Don’t really like how they worded the title (“I Give It All I Got”) because right now it suggests that they are playing with no injuries.

NITPICK

Yeah, this is why translators are oftentimes bad writers. Yes, Takao did say fukanzen nenshou, and it does mean “incomplete combustion.” Maybe it does sound clever to Japanese ears, but to me it looks stupid and out of place when you write it out. If I were writing the line, I’d go with something along the lines of “total letdown,” and be more creative.

ERROR

I’m sure this was a typo, since they wrote it out as “Too” earlier in the episode.

This “joke” could have used a dose of Memesubbing™ since we would at least see a little bit of imagination and creativity being put to use.

[HorribleSubs] Kuroko's Basketball 3 - 51 [720p].mkv_snapshot_14.02_[2015.01.10_20.14.22]

This is how they convey Hayakawa’s inability to pronounce his R’s.

Fukuda Sogo, which is apparently short for “Fukuda Unified Academy High School” because fuck translating into English.

Other Observations

What is up with this line splitting?

Daisuki can’t learn to use TTP to save their lives.

Final Grade: B

The script is accurate enough if that’s what you’re going for, but too many of its janky lines made me roll my eyes to ever consider this an A script.

    • Hmm…

Doki: Isn’t this an incomplete combustion? Isn’t it? Isn’t it?

Chihiro: It’s incomplete combustion. “Isn’t it? Isn’t it?” you said

Excuse me while I spend some alone time in a closet with a shotgun

      • “That draw… it feels like the whole game was a dud.”

Wow, I even kept in the reference to something (not) exploding! That must’ve taken a whole second to think about.

  2. I’m not watching this but I heard from other people that these guys got the characters’ name wrong, don’t see any mention of it though.

    • Kinda. They had “Iduki” instead of “Izuki”, even though his name (伊月) has been romanised officially as “Iduki” since forever ago.

Also, with ToA, I assume they were going for Toô, and it was an encoding error.

      • Okay, I see (guess we’ll blame jaka for the mistake)

Also, didn’t see the first episode script have that questionable spelling of Izuki’s name, and I didn’t subject myself to Daisuki’s scripts after that.

  3. It’s “Touou” 「桐皇・とうおう」. Both “o” sounds are elongated, so “Toô” is wrong as well… and writing it as “Too” is just… Hepburn, people. Hepburn. When it seems a bit odd, just use the Hepburn system. It’s the least clunky way.

I can’t believe you subjected yourself to this, koku. Between that and “Iduki” (which is a hilariously stupid romanization even if I understand how the Japanese person who came up with it made the error… and, yes, it’s an error in my books), there’s no way I could deal with what you showed in your review. I’d want to punch my screen.
