With just two posts I’ve reviewed the most shows in a season since Spring 2015. Go me!
Kaijuu Girls (Kaiju Girls)
Yeah, I know dropping the “u” and considering it an alternate title is stupid. Blame the lack of standardization in the anime community, not Innocent_Sage, kthx. ;_;
You know the drill.
…shit, there better be drill girls in this too.
Meh. It ain’t the typesets I’m masturbating to.
Pass. Also checked out episode 2 just cuz it’s out already and… yeah. All clear. Still best to simply turn the subs off and experience all the pixels Japan has allocated to the waifus. <3
Show (in context of being a short): 9/10
Be still my beaten dick.
Including these as a mere formality, much like including Daisuki in a streaming service list. (Did you know they have a Premium option now? It’s 100% lulz-tier.)
It’s not Funimation.
Goddamn, I enjoyed the snark coming from MC-chan. Rather than writing this off as passable, I’ll even go so far as to say I liked the script. Now, whether that’s due to the original Japanese version being entertaining or the responsibility of the localization team’s efforts… it really doesn’t matter. What does matter is the end-user experience, and I can say it’ll be rather decent here.
Show (in context of being a short): 7/10
Figure you’ve already noticed, but I tend to skew Short series high in the beginning cuz there’s nothing to judge them on but potential. Take this show for example, the entire first episode is simply setup for a puzzle-solving series — there were no puzzles in the 01. So while it was enjoyable enough for me to stick it with a 7, I would not be surprised if that score changed significantly depending on where the fuck they go with it.
So yeah, take these with a grain of salt. Unlike whatever scores I give to standard-length series, cuz those are objectively perfect.
Bishoujo Yuugi Unit Crane Game Girls Galaxy
I think they… just ditched the crane game premise entirely and decided to make the series about idols? Like, what the fuck? Sure, it’s better, cuz S1 was pretty much just low-budget crane game tutorials, but they’re pivoting harder than strippers.
You know, Crunchyroll, for a series about idols, maybe you should look into licensing the music. Fire your trash PR team and put the $10 here.
Sometimes bad typesetting can be really fucking funny.
Show (in context of being a short): 5/10
I hated the crane game bullshit in s1, but idols I can dig. Plz keep on the upswing, Japan. May even hit a 6 if you do well enough~
