Fansub Review: [UTW-Mazui] Kill Me Baby (Episode 01)

Not too shabby, UTW-Mazui.

Release format: MKV (220 MB, 10-bit), MP4 (161 MB)

Japanesiness: Japanese name order. Honorifics.

Group website:

8thsin’s translation critique: N/A

Ji-hi’s screenshot comparisons: N/A

Opening. It’s all right for a rush job.

Ending. The top line interfered with the credits for pretty much the entire ED. Can’t say the font or color choice were especially great either.

The typesetting is good sometimes and meh at other times. However, it’s important to note that there is a lot of it. So I had to limit myself to ten screenshots to show it off.

I’m sure she’s does.

“She does a special type of work.”

“She’s involved in a specialized line of work.”

Avoiding interference with the scrolling Japanese at the bottom: good.

Neglecting to do the same for the top: bad.

I have a great new trick for you guys. It’s called “Begin each sentence with a capital letter.” It may take a few years to learn, but you’ll get there!

Engrish: The most natural of all fansubbing ingredients.

Water bottle is my favorite character.

“It’s just a water bottle.”

Watchability: Quite watchable.

Overall grade: B+

The karaoke wasn’t that great, but there was a lot of typesetting and the script was pretty good. Definitely enjoyed this release.

  1. > Script grade (60% weight): B+ (3 obvious grammar/spelling errors, 1 non-standardization issue)

Feels like i’m reading one of 8th’s reviews, lol.

  2. Sutai, yeah, got the same feeling after seeing number of mistakes.

I really don’t like assigning weights to parts of something and counting average grade based on that. Most of the time it’s retarded or smaller grades are fetched to fit the final one (quite often subconsciously).
One sentence more >>> smaller grade.
Maybe you’ll be able to do it properly but most of the time people fail miserably when attempting something like that.

  3. Thanks for the review! Sorry that I’m extremely late on commenting, but I had nothing to do, so I just felt like doing this now. Anyway, I found an error the first time I watched this episode (a very, very small one in matter of fact) that was not in this review. Of course it’s too small to make a big deal about, but… Eh.
