Sorry for the hastily written review last time. This is a more fair look at the release.

Also, I thought I posted this review on Monday. Whoops. Forgot about it.

Release format: MKV (390 MB, 8-bit), AVI (182 MB)

Japanesiness: Honorifics. “President-san” used. (Yes, really.)

Group website: http://www.animefansftw.com/blog/ http://hatsuyuki-fansubs.com/

8thsin’s translation critique: N/A

Karaoke.

Opening. Ugh. Every line jams into the next one so you have two lines on screen at once. The colors are garish and the effect is confusing. Why are there particles coming out of the letters?

Closing. It’s much easier to enjoy karaoke when you can read the text. The blinding colors, mixed with random shades of blue doesn’t really help.

Typesetting.

HATSU-AFFTUU PRESENTS

A GIANT LOGO

Script.

“Geez I never thought I’d need to exercise so much as a Demon.”

This sentence is terribly phrased and gives off the wrong impression. He’s doing this for Rias; not because demons need exercise.

Not really what she’s saying here. She’s talking about her request to join his family, which is less “Would it be hard for me to join your family?” and more “If you’re not cool with me randomly joining your family, I won’t continue asking about it.”

Try something along the lines of “But if it’s too much to ask, I will withdraw my request.”

Not technically wrong, but it’s still a bit awkward.

“You know, because Asia is still a little unclear on the customs of this country.”

It’s not “the summons I answer” that are complete nutcases. It’s the people who summon him.

“Why is it that everyone who summons me is a complete nutcase?”

“If”? What?

“You said it so suddenly!”

Watchability: Watchable.

Overall grade: B-

Watchable, but not Hiryuu. That about sums it up~

  1. Actually on the blond vs blonde issue, that’s a common misconception. Blond is technically not wrong when used like that. While blonde is usually used to refer to the color itself when talking about a female, the only time where it would be explicitly wrong to use blond is when using it as a noun. Blond is perfectly acceptable to use as an adjective for both males and females.
tl;dr Blonde is a noun used to refer to females with that hair color. Blond is acceptable to use as an adjective for both males and females.

    • Well, fuck me. Seems to me that rule should follow the rule for the noun, but you’re entirely right. Thanks, Heavenly. <3
