And boom! One of the benefits to writing reviews side-by-side is that I can throw them out in short succession. ‘Course it takes a lot longer on the average.

Visual Review
Karaoke.
Opening. Perfect color shifts and great positioning. Even though the OP sucks ass, the kara made it nigh-watchable. Nice achievement.
Rating: Great.
Ending. Just look at that first screen. Fucking delicious. Like the OP, FTW clearly put effort into this shit, and I’m glad they did. Great stuff.
Rating: Great.
Typesetting.
Typeset.
Not typeset.
Don’t mind the lack of title/disclaimer typesetting, but it would’ve been nice to have the few background signs done.
Other.
Commie and FTW both used the Tokyo MX raw which was a bit fucked for this episode and episode 2.
Script Review
Karaoke.
I get that these girls are fucking chuunis, but that doesn’t give you an excuse to fucking write down gibberish. None of this makes sense.
Main Script.
Informal can only go so far before it gets unpalatable.
“Your” -> “That’s your”
Whose attacks? Make it clear that she’s talking about chuuni shit here. Italicize the “their” or put some other emphasis around it.
While this is a legitimate line, I’m quite curious as to if anyone’s actually heard someone say something similar in public.
Cyz I’ve only come across it while searching for English nonsense on the internet.
This came outta left field for me. Cute way to handle the line, guys. I liked it.
Goddamn, FTW. It’s like your editor saw this line and immediately noped the fuck away from it. I have no idea where the fuck your TL’s mind was at here.
I’d just copy Commie’s line and pretend you came to the same conclusion they did: “Your power forced me to call forth a shield.”
Not really wrong so much as lazy writing. Easy fix though.
“You should know better.”
“Yeah, yeah. But let’s make it juice.”
The informality of the second line is to the detriment of the script. Any more of this caveman dialogue and the release would be a Flintstones parody.
Head to Head
Commie and FTW each had a number of lines that were significantly better than the other group’s, but I wouldn’t say either release dominated in the amount of “victories”.
As they evened out, I’m not gonna waste your time or mine with an in-depth, line-by-line analysis. I suggest looking toward the TL Party if you want to see how that aspect of the releases plays out in regards to your preferences. Like how I’m shifting my reviewing responsibilities onto Past_Sage? Cuz I sure as hell do right now~
Results
Watchability: Def watchable.
Visual grade: A-
Script grade: A-
Overall grade: A-
FTW had better visuals and a more structurally sound script than Commie did. But that doesn’t mean Commie’s release isn’t worth watching.
If you did the TL Party and had a strong tendency toward one of the groups, I’d go with those results for your archival purposes. But if you skipped the party or weren’t already swayed one way or another, I suggest you go with FTW for Chuu2-2. They made a damn good showing.
Regarding the alt lines: one is clearly brown, the other clearly blue, even in the Aegis screenshot.
Maybe it’s a monitor color settings thing?
My monitor is a POS, that could be the deal. Updated.
So who’s your favorite Chuu-2 grill, D_S?
Rikka’s onee-san ofc. I’m pulling for a serial killer end for the schoolkids and a super sentai end for the onee-san. I’m sure Japan won’t let me down.
In other words, none of them because they all make you want to kill yourself.
She has a name, but who cares about that.
Kumin-sempai best girl.
I claim all credit for angelicosity. Angelicness just didn’t have that je ne sais quoi.
It probably sounds better because -ity is a Latin-derived suffix, meanwhile, -ness originated in Old English (West Germanic, if you go back even further). Germanic words are basically ‘native’ to english, and so tend to be more simplistic and are more frequently used (like “die” instead of “decease”). That added level of sophiaticacy brought on by Latin elements turns out to be well-recieved I guess.
I hate typing on phones…
Glad you liked both the op and the ed.
I’ve been gradually improving them, ep 5 should be final version.
