Karaoke.

[DameDesuYo] Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui! - 01 (720p x264 AAC).mkv_snapshot_03.26_[2013.07.14_13.04.48] [DameDesuYo] Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui! - 01 (720p x264 AAC).mkv_snapshot_22.25_[2013.07.14_13.31.28]

OP and ED. Of course they didn’t do it, and to be frank I’m glad they didn’t try to attempt it.

Main Script.

[DameDesuYo] Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui! - 01 (720p x264 AAC).mkv_snapshot_00.26_[2013.07.14_13.00.12]

They decided to just transliterate the Japanese word instead of come up with a catchy translation. For a weeb like me, that’s fine, though it probably won’t pan out for the general audience. Also, that’s their version of a “complete sentence.” You’ll be seeing those a lot in this release.

[DameDesuYo] Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui! - 01 (720p x264 AAC).mkv_snapshot_01.02_[2013.07.14_13.01.17]

“Guys picked up erasers for me one out of three times.”

Forget the fact that they missed the moraeru (“to have something done for oneself”) at the end, do they even know what this show is about?

[DameDesuYo] Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui! - 01 (720p x264 AAC).mkv_snapshot_01.48_[2013.07.14_13.02.24][DameDesuYo] Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui! - 01 (720p x264 AAC).mkv_snapshot_01.51_[2013.07.14_13.02.31]

No, no, no, no, NO! The word machidooshi means “I can’t wait for xxx,” not this.

[DameDesuYo] Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui! - 01 (720p x264 AAC).mkv_snapshot_02.03_[2013.07.14_13.02.50]

Holy cats. They don’t fucking know that gogatsu means May? We’re talking Intro Japanese 101 here.

[DameDesuYo] Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui! - 01 (720p x264 AAC).mkv_snapshot_04.04_[2013.07.14_13.05.50]

Didn’t bother to typeset or even subtitle the damn title.

[DameDesuYo] Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui! - 01 (720p x264 AAC).mkv_snapshot_04.56_[2013.07.14_13.07.10]

For the billionth time, “sluts” not “bitches”.

[DameDesuYo] Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui! - 01 (720p x264 AAC).mkv_snapshot_06.32_[2013.07.14_13.09.03]

No, it’ll be bad if he skips.

[DameDesuYo] Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui! - 01 (720p x264 AAC).mkv_snapshot_06.36_[2013.07.14_13.09.15]

Shorty Aliens from G***z.

[DameDesuYo] Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui! - 01 (720p x264 AAC).mkv_snapshot_06.39_[2013.07.14_13.09.24]

A what? This is supposed to be “Shimada from P***syte.”

[DameDesuYo] Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui! - 01 (720p x264 AAC).mkv_snapshot_08.05_[2013.07.14_13.12.02]

This is probably the least significant of the TL mistakes in this release, but the “I didn’t say anything” should be present tense, not past.

[DameDesuYo] Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui! - 01 (720p x264 AAC).mkv_snapshot_08.33_[2013.07.14_13.12.33]

They wisely chose not to sub the engrish.

[DameDesuYo] Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui! - 01 (720p x264 AAC).mkv_snapshot_09.25_[2013.07.14_13.13.29]

Holy gods. Gestaltzerfall, not “ruined self image.”

[DameDesuYo] Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui! - 01 (720p x264 AAC).mkv_snapshot_09.41_[2013.07.14_13.14.01]

Short AND flat.

[DameDesuYo] Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui! - 01 (720p x264 AAC).mkv_snapshot_09.53_[2013.07.14_13.14.18]

Make it a sweep for all sub groups (including me) that didn’t get this line right.

[DameDesuYo] Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui! - 01 (720p x264 AAC).mkv_snapshot_11.16_[2013.07.14_13.16.38]

Apparently kikonashi (dressing well) equals “no jacket” in their world.

[DameDesuYo] Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui! - 01 (720p x264 AAC).mkv_snapshot_12.02_[2013.07.14_13.18.03]

No, it’s no “Wii”. Here, let me show you…

[DameDesuYo] Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui! - 01 (720p x264 AAC).mkv_snapshot_12.04_[2013.07.14_13.18.11][DameDesuYo] Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui! - 01 (720p x264 AAC).mkv_snapshot_12.22_[2013.07.14_13.18.44]

It pays to pay attention. See the katakana? It says ui-ire or “Winners Eleven” in Engrish.

[DameDesuYo] Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui! - 01 (720p x264 AAC).mkv_snapshot_14.03_[2013.07.14_13.21.20]

No, if SHE was his older brother.

[DameDesuYo] Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui! - 01 (720p x264 AAC).mkv_snapshot_14.57_[2013.07.14_13.22.29]

“A half day, huh?”

[DameDesuYo] Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui! - 01 (720p x264 AAC).mkv_snapshot_15.10_[2013.07.14_13.23.00]

Didn’t bother adding the stuff about ditzes and skirtchasers.

[DameDesuYo] Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui! - 01 (720p x264 AAC).mkv_snapshot_15.21_[2013.07.14_13.23.17]

A private room, not a soundproof room.

[DameDesuYo] Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui! - 01 (720p x264 AAC).mkv_snapshot_23.58_[2013.07.14_13.31.54]

Apparently they mistook koko (here) with koukou (high school) and came up with this line, which was supposed to be “Don’t do it here.”

Other Observations

[DameDesuYo] Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui! - 01 (720p x264 AAC).mkv_snapshot_10.16_[2013.07.14_15.21.13]

They forgot to add the font to their release, so you will end up with this.

[DameDesuYo] Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui! - 01 (720p x264 AAC).mkv_snapshot_00.37_[2013.07.14_13.00.42]

They haven’t heard of the word “keyframe.”

[DameDesuYo] Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui! - 01 (720p x264 AAC).mkv_snapshot_15.53_[2013.07.14_13.23.55][DameDesuYo] Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui! - 01 (720p x264 AAC).mkv_snapshot_15.55_[2013.07.14_13.24.11]

These line are, in fact, the only two lines that are grammatically correct in this entire release. I’m not even kidding. Otherwise you have missing capital letters and ending punctuation for every goddamn line.

Final Grade: D-

What the hell were they thinking in putting out this dogshit release? The only thing keeping it from not being an F is the fact that it looks like they kinda-sorta tried.

El Huesudo II says:

You could say this group’s just got no mojo.

takenoko says:

it’s ashame to make these translation!

Aru says:

Guess everyone has to start somewhere.(/_\)

kokujin-kun says:

Did they have to start all they way from 2nd-grade grammar? ;_;

Nyangoro says:

I appreciate fansub groups being honest about their releases as early as the group name.

kokujin-kun says:

Yeah, though I was kind of hoping they’d flip the script at least a little, like Mazui ( ¬‿¬)

rwn says:

Hadena was trying too, this should be an F.

kokujin-kun says:

Well, if we’re going by overall subbing effort, this is indeed an F. But I was going by the translation alone, and while they made mistakes that affected the audience’s understanding of what’s going on throughout the entirety of the episode, it’s not a completely garbled mess where basically every other line is wrong. However, in my book, a D, and even a C, is a failing grade.

mints says:

Final Grade: WTF+

kokujin-kun says:

Yeah, these releases make me wish I can grade the subs as whole in terms of presentation, not just translation -_-#

Dark_Sage says:

You can do that too. Not like movie blogs die out when two people rate movies on similar standards and come to similar or different conclusions.

kokujin-kun says:

Fine I’ll add asterisks to clearly shit releases that should be avoided by sensible people.

fanta says:

Why not both? I’d definitely be more trusted then anything Dark_Sage reviews. Perhaps similar to what Vale does on his translation blog.

kokujin-kun says:

Vale can into good English?

Dark_Sage says:

He’ll get there one of these days.

goshinbi says:

they have a website, apparently http://damedesuyofansubs.wordpress.com/

Dude says:

“goal : better than Hadena ✔ Faster than FFF ✔ Less localized than Commie ✔”

Well, they got one out of three.

Yes, I refuse to believe Hadena were substantially worse than this.

Rollo says:

You’re more charitable than I am, Kokujin-kun. This would have been a straight F for me.

goshinbi says:

On their blog they said that they’ve been improving. Think you could do a review of episode 2 or 3?

kokujin-kun says:

I’ll be doing something of a spot-check now.
