Fansub Review: [Commie] Nurarihyon no Mago S2 (Episode 02)

Sweet. I should have all the reviews done by tonight. Most re-reviews could be finished by tomorrow… and then Translation Parties/articles. o/

File size: 335 MB

Release format: MKV

Japanesiness: Yuki-Onna translated into Snow Girl. Aotabou translated into Blue Monk. etc. No honorifics.

Karaoke. The OP’s just shit with all that rainbow faggotry. But the ED works fine, even if I’d prefer to have the Japanese up there too so I could sing along with it like a Japanese schoolgirl. Trust me, I look ravishing in a skirt.

Typesetting. It’s nice when it’s there. I can see why they didn’t typeset the attacks, though.

Questions use questions marks. ;)

You know, I wouldn’t have a problem with “Pandaemonium” if you used the word “daemon” in place of “demon”, but you guys didn’t. If you’re still not bridging the connection… Pan-demon-ium vs. Pan-daemon-ium. Just a little consistency is all I’m asking for.

Watchability: Quite watchable, unless you’re one of those Nihongo Banzai purists.

Overall grade: A-

Yeah, I saw their mix-up of lightning/water in episode 2. If I reviewed 02 instead, they’d have a B+. Oh well, the grade really doesn’t matter. Commie did the best job with this show, even if they localized it more than I preferred, so I’m going to recommend them for Nurarihyon S2.

  1. I’m not trying to be a smartass or anything, but…

Your question-mark thing… It really IS question, but it’s kinda more statement… She’s not literally asking “how dare you?”, right? I’m not saying that it’s grammatically not a mistake, but it’s much less of a mistake than if you missed a question mark on question such as “What’s up?”…

Ganbare with reviews, I’m reading them all!

    • Well, technically, you’re in the right. A number of places will tell you only to use a question mark when it’s a direct question and to use a period instead when it’s a redundant question/polite request. Personally, I think that’s bullshit. A question’s a question’s a question. :/

But you’re right. In the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t really matter. I guess I’ll avoid commenting on these now.

  2. Holy shit I never realized that’s where the word “pandemonium” comes from. It makes so much sense.

    Mind. Blown.
