Wow, is SubDesu improving or are my expectations just at a rock-bottom low?

Release Format: MKV (?-bit, 345 MB), AVI (145 MB)

Japanesiness: Honorifics.

Note: Don’t judge the quality of their MKV release by my screenshots. For some reason I downloaded the AVI version.

Karaoke.

Opening. Surprisingly okay for the most part. However, the lines are generally built to stay on the screen for a looooong time, which gets annoying when you have to read the same line for 30 seconds.

No Ending this episode.

Typesetting.

Fine.

Suitable.

They should have made the red more noticeable, but it’s okay.

Script.

Oh come now. You didn’t think they were gonna escape unscathed, did you? This is SubDesu. Right, now let’s present the three-line parade. These are all their screens which reached three lines — a hideous occurence that every group should avoid in most situations.

Yes, apparently they find all this acceptable.

New line? Holy fucking shit, better capitalize that, guys! Better safe than sorry, am I right?

SubDesu, you truly are on a different level.

And you look this is the first you speaking English.

Hah. Ending punctuation. Not in SubDesu’s world.

Wow. What a sentence.

Watchability: Eh… I guess if you’re a Digmon fan you probably don’t care about quality, so go for it.

Overall Grade: D

They had a few phrasing issues/missing commas, but other than stuff like that I didn’t really leave too much out that was serious. The rampant three-liners are killer, but at least SubDesu’s improved from last season. Will they be able to keep this up when they release a show that isn’t aimed at 8-year-olds? Probably not, but that would be really nice.

And yes, I realize that I’m referring to a “D” as “really nice.” But let’s throw ’em a bone. At least it’s a turn in the right direction.

  1. Hm… Was I mistaken when I heard that they were going to bring back all the protagonists from the previous Digimon series in this season? If so, then I might be inclined to pick this series up.
