Aniblog Stuff – Round 1 – Day 3

I assume these are gonna get pretty annoying for the people who don’t care about this Aniblog stuff. I’m having fun with these write-ups though, so I’ll keep doing them. But yeah, a review or two after this.

http://animepicks.co.uk/

Site type: I don’t know.

First impression: What the fuck?

Article quality:

Overall rating: I’m still washing my eyes with bleach.

http://enkuuki.blogspot.com/

Site type: Shitty anime opinions.

First impression: Surely better than Anime Picks, right?

Article quality:

http://enkuuki.blogspot.com/2012/04/1st-episode-jormungand.html

First of all, GG, I liked Mameshiba better, nothing can beat Mameshiba

Is this an article about Jormungand or an article about begging gg to put better commercials in their releases? Fucking stupid leechers…

http://enkuuki.blogspot.com/2012/04/1st-episode-tasogare-otome-x-amnesia.html

She thinks Tasogare sucks and that it should be renamed to “My girlfriend is a ghost.”

I fucking hate this cunt.

Overall rating: Poor taste < poor design. I’d rather visit Anime Pick’s garbage site than one where the writer drinks battery acid every day.

http://notakublog.wordpress.com/

Site type: Shitty anime opinions.

First impression: The blog layout sucks.

Article quality:

http://notakublog.wordpress.com/2011/11/27/mawaru-penguindrum-i-dont-even/

Hey 8th, someone else wants to get in on the Penguindrum analysis game.

http://notakublog.wordpress.com/2012/01/02/bakemonogatari-review/

Here, the author adequately explains why Bake is good (but not perfect). Too bad the guy doesn’t know English because all of his articles are filled with spelling mistakes and broken grammar. I still thought it was a decent read, though.

Overall rating: Mediocre, at best.

http://beneaththetangles.wordpress.com/

Site type: Christian anime blogging.

First impression: Are you fucking kidding me?

Article quality:

http://beneaththetangles.wordpress.com/resources/christian-parents-and-anime/

Let me just quote their “parent’s guide to anime”

Watching anime with your child could open conversation and even opportunities to discuss themes of the series that may relate  to Christianity.  For instance, self-sacrifice in Naruto could easily segue into a discussion about Jesus and the cross.

Overall rating: Terrible. This is just poorly written propaganda intended to marginalize non-Christians and brainwash children.

http://animetree.wordpress.com/

Site type: Shitty anime opinions.

First impression: The hell does the blog’s name mean?

Article quality:

http://animetree.wordpress.com/2012/04/13/inu-x-boku-ss-review/

The review was going okay until after a few paragraphs she decided to talk about the characters. And by “talk”, I mean “write a wall of text that would frighten away all but the bravest of souls”. Protip: You generally want your readers to read what you write, so don’t fuck yourself over with shit like that.

 http://animetree.wordpress.com/2012/04/04/danshi-koukousei-no-nichijou-review/

Another wall-of-text character analysis. Goddammit, Anime Tree. Don’t you fucking read your shit before you post it?

Overall rating: tl;dr

http://subduedfangirling.blogspot.com/

Site type: Shitty anime opinions.

First impression: Steins;Gate Shoujo-ai FTW

Article quality:

http://subduedfangirling.blogspot.com/2012/04/accel-world-first-impressions-how-to.html

This post consists solely of a sentence and a long, rambling paragraph. Not particularly impressive.

http://subduedfangirling.blogspot.com/2012/03/nendoroid-menma-review.html

Refreshing. I was really getting fucking tired of reading all these terrible anime reviews. I was mostly impressed by the photos taken and her description made me really interested in picking this shit up. Kudos for inspiring an emotion in me besides disgust.

Overall rating: Forgettable except for the Nendoroid post.

http://ephemeraldreamer.wordpress.com/

Site type: Anime/manga-themed articles.

First impression: A site that isn’t just a shitty anime opinion blog? Thanks be to the anime gods!

Article quality:

 http://ephemeraldreamer.wordpress.com/2012/03/29/reciting-poems-in-karuta/

An actual talk about karuta beyond simply its context in Chihayafuru. I don’t even like karuta, but I did like this article. Thanks for actually putting thought into what you’re writing.

http://ephemeraldreamer.wordpress.com/2012/02/15/learn-and-know-when-to-stop/

A message about internet drama and such. It turned real sad after the hair-cutting picture. I don’t necessarily agree with all the author’s opinions, but at least I can respect them, which is more than I can say for a lot of articles I’ve read in this tournament.

Overall rating: Well-deserving of support in this tournament.

http://acerailgun.wordpress.com/

Site type: Shitty anime opinions.

First impression: Cool article titles. I hope the articles weren’t written by a 12-year-old, though.

Article quality:

 http://acerailgun.wordpress.com/2012/04/15/avatar-korra-episode-1/

Wherein the 12-year-old blogger says, with all seriousness,

The art makes Ghibli look like children’s drawings, the animation puts Fate Zero to shame, the music puts Guilty Crown to shame and the nostalgia makes Persona 4′s Persona 3 crossover episode look like fan fiction written by a 13 year old girl.

http://acerailgun.wordpress.com/2012/04/09/upotte-episode-1/

If you don’t know English, don’t blog in English. Seriously.

Overall rating: Terrible.

tl;dr: My choices:

Anime Picks vs. Enkuuki

Notaku vs. Beneath the Tangles

Anime Tree vs. Subdued Fangirling

Ephemeral Dreams vs. Ace Railgun

  1. WTF is up with the religious troll site even getting nominated let alone winning? The idiot compares aspects of Accel World to Jesus…

I can’t fucking handle this shit.

I-it’s not like I’m reading this because I enjoy it or anything!
Srsly though, keep up the good work, ye god of scepticism and sarcasm.

  4. I can’t quite see how Beneath the Tangles is Christian propaganda when half the time anime is being related to beliefs and faiths that aren’t Christianity.

    • Well, call me suspicious if you will, but it seems a bit more than coincidence that every article/review on that site has the phrase “I found God” in it at some point…
