After Day 9, I’ll get on those “articles by request”.

Match 29

http://chaostangent.com/

Site type: Shitty anime opinions.

Article quality:

http://chaostangent.com/2012/04/3-episode-taste-test-anthropromorphisation-throwdown/

He thinks Nyarlko is as bad as Upotte.

http://chaostangent.com/2012/03/last-exile-fam-of-the-silver-wing/

And he thinks Speed Grapher sucked and Last Exile Fam was great.

Overall rating: I’m not sure whether his taste is bad or non-existent.

http://animekritik.wordpress.com/

Site type: Shitty anime opinions about old shows.

Article quality:

When the guy’s not writing about Leiji’s terrible anime, he can make a decent article. For example, here we an article about Evangelion-themed razors.

http://animekritik.wordpress.com/2012/04/25/evangelions-razor-edge-not-so-sharp-thank-you/

It’s a moderately entertaining read, which is more than can be said of most of what I’ve read in this tourney.

Overall rating: Better than ChaosTangent’s shitty articles, even if this shit is fucking dated.

Match 30

http://predederva.wordpress.com/

Site type: Shitty anime opinions about old shows.

Article quality:

http://predederva.wordpress.com/2009/09/19/dvd-look-a-wind-named-amnesia/

Whenever a reviewer spends two paragraphs listing off the people involved in a show and what they worked on in the past, I tune out. I don’t care what they worked on before; I care what they’re doing now.

The author wrote a long review to “do this movie some justice” but in the end, he really didn’t. He gushes, but offers no substantial reason for why we should watch the movie.

Okay, I get that the movie is “mature”, but how does this make it good? You say that it’s “deep”, but perhaps you should explain why instead of saying “Well, you just have to watch it a couple times to get it.”

You can jerk it to a show all you want, but if your writing is ineffective, you’re gonna be the only one who cares.

Overall rating: A focus on shitty, old shows combined with shitty, dull writing makes for a shitty blog.

http://keikakudoori.wordpress.com/

Site type: Shitty anime opinions about old shows.

Article quality:

Think of the dumbest ways to watch a series… and then apply those ideas to the most popular shows of a season. That’s the motto of this blog’s “Experiment Series”.

“I’m going to watch Nise without audio.”
“I’m going to watch Fate/Zero without subs.”
“I’m going to watch Black Rock Shooter backwards.”

This is more interesting than the standard fare you get with these blogs. It’s still just shitty anime opinions, but the premise for the articles makes you want to read them.

Overall rating: You get credit for an interesting premise, but you lose some credit because I never actually bothered to read the articles.

Match 31

http://yurinoboke.blogspot.com/

Site type: Yuri articles.

Article quality:

The articles on the site tend to be filled with peppy fangirling over yuri-related stuff.

Overall rating: You already know if you’re gonna be interested in the site or not.

http://tsuzukusekai.wordpress.com/

Site type: Shitty anime articles.

Article quality:

http://tsuzukusekai.wordpress.com/2012/01/18/mom-innocent-people-are-dying-in-this-cartoon/

A five-paragraph post about death in anime with absolutely nothing of value in any of the paragraphs.

Overall rating: I guess it takes skill to take a topic worth discussing and absolutely avoiding any rational argument, but it’s not something I’d brag about.

Match 32

http://kevo.dasaku.net/

Site type: Shitty anime articles and podcasts.

Article quality:

http://kevo.dasaku.net/?p=3465

Listened to the whole podcast and was reminded of why I hate podcasts.

http://kevo.dasaku.net/?p=3538

Here are the meta-as-fuck anime power rankings. Basically a small selection of anibloggers all come together and vote on what the greatest animes of a season are. Somehow, 20 morons all came to the consensus that Sakamichi no Apollon is the most amazing thing ever.

It’s trite, overdone romance with a jazz theme. Get over yourselves, newfags.

Overall rating: It tries a couple different things and fails at each of them.

http://yaranakya.wordpress.com/

Site type: Shitt
y anime articles.

Article quality:

The articles on this site are very short.

Calling out the KyoAni love was an interesting choice for a post, and the news-like articles were cool to read since I’m not nearly retarded enough to visit SankakuComplex anymore. But ultimately, “bite-sized blogging” is not what I’m looking for when I look for sites to bookmark and check back on.

Overall rating: Close, but no cigar.

tl;dr:

http://aniblogtourney.wordpress.com/2012/05/08/round-2-matches-29-32/

Chaostangent vs. Kritik der Animationskraft

Prede’s Anime Reviews vs. Just as Planned

Yuri no Boke vs. Continuing World

Desu ex Machina vs. Yaranakya

    It is.

  2. Probably doesn’t change much, but 73 anime bloggers participate in the Anime Power Rankings. And apparently they like Sakamichi no Apollon. Don’t blame me; I just count votes and make posts.

    I agree.

A better way to write would be describing a situation from the fictional work, and then make a preference on values and principles and show how they should be used in the situation or real life.
