OP. It’s amazing how this WTF mishearing (umare —> mane) of the Japanese lyrics didn’t affect this English line here (ignore general derpiness). Otherwise it’s fine.

[Doki] Sakura Trick - 03 (1280x720 Hi10P AAC) [C4E67B78].mkv_snapshot_22.21_[2014.01.27_22.37.40]

ED. As opposed to “Love.” Otherwise (kinda, sorta) fine in the strict accuracy sense, though you still get headscratchers like , “We share our joys and split our sorrows.”

Main Script.

[Doki] Sakura Trick - 03 (1280x720 Hi10P AAC) [C4E67B78].mkv_snapshot_02.14_[2014.01.27_20.43.30]

Literal TL of karada no ichibu nano yo, megane wa. Since I hate literal TLs like I hate white cops, I probably would have went with “Losing those glasses was like losing an arm!” or “I can’t live without those glasses!”

[Doki] Sakura Trick - 03 (1280x720 Hi10P AAC) [C4E67B78].mkv_snapshot_02.38_[2014.01.27_20.51.30]

“Fizz” makes me think of someone opening a bottle of pop. How about “Steam”?

[Doki] Sakura Trick - 03 (1280x720 Hi10P AAC) [C4E67B78].mkv_snapshot_03.01_[2014.01.27_20.56.12]

That was Yuu saying that line, not Haruka, which will make this line completely different. Isn’t Japanese phun?

[Doki] Sakura Trick - 03 (1280x720 Hi10P AAC) [C4E67B78].mkv_snapshot_03.27_[2014.01.27_20.59.49]

“Misato West High School”

[Doki] Sakura Trick - 03 (1280x720 Hi10P AAC) [C4E67B78].mkv_snapshot_04.28_[2014.01.27_21.05.33]

“Head cheerleader”

[Doki] Sakura Trick - 03 (1280x720 Hi10P AAC) [C4E67B78].mkv_snapshot_04.31_[2014.01.27_21.05.52]

Missed the “Fure! Fure! Fure!”

[Doki] Sakura Trick - 03 (1280x720 Hi10P AAC) [C4E67B78].mkv_snapshot_05.06_[2014.01.27_21.07.27][Doki] Sakura Trick - 03 (1280x720 Hi10P AAC) [C4E67B78].mkv_snapshot_05.08_[2014.01.27_21.07.34]

Either this is exactly how the scriptwriters respond to direct orders, or they think “hai” automatically means “yes.”

[Doki] Sakura Trick - 03 (1280x720 Hi10P AAC) [C4E67B78].mkv_snapshot_05.51_[2014.01.27_21.09.02][Doki] Sakura Trick - 03 (1280x720 Hi10P AAC) [C4E67B78].mkv_snapshot_05.56_[2014.01.27_21.09.14]

They were adapting the homophonic pun Yuzu-chan yuzutte. It might have worked if the first line wasn’t a bit too long for the time alotted.

[Doki] Sakura Trick - 03 (1280x720 Hi10P AAC) [C4E67B78].mkv_snapshot_13.51_[2014.01.27_22.12.30]

Forgot to typeset the “rising” on that arrow.

[Doki] Sakura Trick - 03 (1280x720 Hi10P AAC) [C4E67B78].mkv_snapshot_13.56_[2014.01.27_22.36.11]

I think the biggest clue that this episode title is wrong is that nobody mentions anything about any fucking promises in this episode. Doki wasn’t alone, though. Crunchyroll were the only people (“Essential Elements of Pool Cleaning”) who were in the right ballpark (though it still sucks). Yakusoku means “promise.” Oyakusoku means “running gag” or “a trope or typical happening you’ll find at a specified setting.” Since they’re cleaning the pool, expect horseplay, people relaxing while others work, and some alone time in the storage shed. So the title of the episode should be something like “What You’d Expect at a Pool Cleaning.” Also font, blur.

[Doki] Sakura Trick - 03 (1280x720 Hi10P AAC) [C4E67B78].mkv_snapshot_18.27_[2014.01.27_22.24.34]

“Since the rest of us had paper…” Even if they knew what they were saying in this line, there was no need to scriptwrite it or whatever.

[Doki] Sakura Trick - 03 (1280x720 Hi10P AAC) [C4E67B78].mkv_snapshot_20.10_[2014.01.27_22.28.42][Doki] Sakura Trick - 03 (1280x720 Hi10P AAC) [C4E67B78].mkv_snapshot_20.14_[2014.01.27_22.28.49]

I liked this whole exchange (confusion between the words hana 鼻 and hana 花 )

[Doki] Sakura Trick - 03 (1280x720 Hi10P AAC) [C4E67B78].mkv_snapshot_23.50_[2014.01.27_22.46.18][Doki] Sakura Trick - 03 (1280x720 Hi10P AAC) [C4E67B78].mkv_snapshot_23.56_[2014.01.27_22.46.34]

Doki royally fucked up the preview where Kaede is having a breakdown over her flat chest.

They should have either masked the original sign, or duped it somewhere else.

[Doki] Sakura Trick - 03 (1280x720 Hi10P AAC) [C4E67B78].mkv_snapshot_08.33_[2014.01.27_21.14.39]

There’s at least two things wrong with these signs.

[Doki] Sakura Trick - 03 (1280x720 Hi10P AAC) [C4E67B78].mkv_snapshot_15.30_[2014.01.27_22.16.30]

What are they doing?

Timing was off on this line.

Final Grade: B

I suppose this is par for the course for Doki. Once again it’s fine if you want your quick yuri fix, but it’ll take a little bit of fixing until it’s archive quality.

    • Not really a long talk. I just think it’s stupid to use a circlejerk site as your primary method of finding anime. It’s smarter to use a site where sucking up won’t get you anywhere, because that gives an even playing field.

      Reply
        • Well to cover your bases, you’ll have to use both. Each site has “exclusive” releases, and a lot of Tosho just links back to Nyaa anyway.

Using Nyaa exclusively just reeks of casual retardation, though.

          Reply
          • The issue is that Nyaa’s a tracker too, so all the groups use it because of that. Back when scarywater was still around and Eclipse was still active (they had their own tracker), a lot of groups would only use torrent cataloguing sites like tokyotosho, baka-updates, and to some extent, animesuki. Now that Nyaa does both jobs of being tracker and catalogue, it’s bound to be the first port of call for most groups, despite its often biased judgement calls on what’s good and what isn’t.

          • P.S. Not that it’s an issue for me – if I ever want a release of something, I go XDCC it from a bot, because it’s much quicker and you don’t have to put up with bullshit like this >.>

      • Nyaa gives me RSS feeds, so I can just do this http://puu.sh/6ADW5.png

Plus, their site doesn’t give me eye cancer. Doki are (almost?) literally the only group that snubs Nyaa (no big loss), whereas plenty of groups don’t bother with TT. I really don’t care about the A+ stuff; Nyaa just happens to give me a much better user experience.

          • You talk as if I have any stake in this. Doki hasn’t produced anything I find worth watching in forever, so I don’t miss their absence on Nyaa, whatever the reason behind it. Beyond that, I subjectively just find Nyaa to be the far superior site and TT to be mostly obsolete. Whatever drama or “corruption” happens there hasn’t affected my experience in the slightest.

            Reply
            • Funny, my experience is quite the opposite. On TT I can see more info on each torrent, I use the ‘fold’ line to see where I was up to last, and I don’t have to look at the eye-cancer colors which only reveal who’s sucking up the most.

            • But yeah, your torrent client is full of Vivid, Commie, Underwater, FFF and other… SHIT (yeah worst groups all time, you are missing only CoalGuys and Hadena). You literally love americanized made up shit, so, well,
I’m not surprised that you don’t like Doki’s transaltions.

            • Someone at their staff trolled nyaa by uploading doki’s stuff as commie’s… If I’m not mistaken. He still did it even after being warned so doki got banned.

            • I inquired, and apparently some of Doki’s members were threatening to DDOS the site/try to get the domain revoked, uploading porn to the SFW portion of the site, etc.

              Reply
              • I’d guess it started as trolling and posting hentai, and then escalated into the DDOS crap after, whether it be the cause of ban or result. If all the details are there cant blame Nyaa I guess. If.

            • Doki was banned because of two things:
              1. A translator by the name of ZeroYuki (the one who faked his death and caused a big stir in the fansubbing scene a while back), used Doki’s account to post troll releases on Nyaa. Nyaa told Holo, and Holo was able to get ZeroYuki to stop, but it was already considered a “warning” against Doki.
(ZeroYuki went on to translate for Oyatsu and another group, both of which are allowed on Nyaa.)
              2. Power2All (Anirena Admin) and Sunny (editor at Doki at the time, and leader of Hina Fansubs, which is allowed on Nyaa), tried to get Nyaa’s domain revoked. Nyaa went to Holo to get him to fire them, but he refused (would firing them really get them to stop?), so he banned Doki.
While all three troublemakers are no longer at Doki, I doubt Nyaa will ever lift the ban.

          • That’s basically the same thing as what I’m doing, except it combines all the different Nyaa feeds into one. Doesn’t let me set the downloads for each show to separate folders like my current solution does.

I’m perfectly content with my current solution, and I doubt I’d be able to improve it without some real automation (aggregating RSS feeds isn’t automation) or a torrent client that has the necessary features.

            • you could try using Deluge which has plugins that adds those funtions. my currennt deluge setup uses LabelPlus for labeling and sorting downloads into specified folders e.g. Kill La Kil folder for Kill La Kill releases.

              Reply
              • I’ve actually been considering switching torrent clients because uTorrent is increasingly becoming bloat/adware. I’ve heard about Deluge before, so I’ll probably check it out. Thanks!

                Reply
                • Why not just use an old version of utorrent? Don’t touch that new 3.x shit. The moment I saw that “Torrent of the Day” shit I said fuck this. I used to use nothing but 1.6.1 or 1.6.2, but then I couldn’t connect to peers at certain trackers, so I switched to the latest 2.x. Works perfectly for me. You can get it from filehippo. I’m using 2.2.1 build 25302.

                  Reply
              • Well I tried Deluge, but I can’t get it to recognize the necessary plugins. Even ran as admin since apparently someone hasn’t gotten the memo that they were supposed to put user-editable stuff in AppData, but even after I got it to save its settings, it still won’t recognize plugins. Tried both using the install dialog and dropping them in the folder and telling it to rescan. Do I need to reinstall the whole thing in AppData myself or something?

                Reply
    • That’d only really work if the -chan was pronounced “chain”. It may work visually, but when in dialogue, you wouldn’t expect a character to pick it up or indeed the audience as they’re reading the subs.

The “Yuzu used” is a much better way of going about it, if the line was refined somewhat.

      Reply
    • I’m making a personal compilation of ST subs (taking out the good parts of each subs into one release) and I’m curious about the quality of LL.

Kaylith will probably be out of my compilation mainly because I’ve seen some stupid shit in their releases like translating “shoujo manga” to “yuri anime” and using “Lemontine”. Really?

  1. Actually, there a difference between Cheerleading vs Masculine Cheering Team. Haruka was imagine Yuu in Male School uniform not female Cheerleading uniform.
