Just finishing off Winter 2012~ Will do Ozuma/Amagami tomorrow. Not sure when though; I’ve got some other stuff to attend to.

Release format: MKV (192 MB, 10-bit)

Japanesiness: No honorifics.

Group website: http://commiesubs.com/

8thsin’s translation critique: N/A

Ji-hi’s screenshot comparisons: N/A

Karaoke.

OP. They did this for all the “you”s in the script. Good decision.

ED. Good color choice again.

I think Commie did a bang-up job on the karaoke here.

Typesetting.

Doesn’t really need typesetting cuz we all know this is The Book of Friends ™.

Script.

Should have some way to differentiate between the two different speakers.

I’d once heard is redundant.

“I’ve heard of a forest in the eastern mountains ruled by such a group.”

I also rephrased it a bit to make it clear that “eastern mountains” refers to the location of the forest.

Watchability: Definitely watchable.

Overall grade: A

Commie wins by default. No other group did this show. They’d probably still be the best option even if they did have competition though. So yeah, I liked the release. While it wasn’t perfect, it was pretty damn good. Any other complaints I may have had were nullified by the Thousands of American Dollars that I was paid to write this review.

      • Not like I’ll be reviewing anything other than UTW. I have nothing against Chihiro, and their TL for this project was really looking forward to a review from me, but they’re a fucking month behind. I know I’m getting to the show late, but they’ve been consistently slow and it’s against my policy to spend time on groups that can’t manage their releases properly.

Edit: I did watch Chihiro for episode 1 and while I’m sure they improved later on, there were three-liners every other line. Shitty phrasing like “Thank you for coming.” “It’s nothing.” (Really, who responds to “Thank you for coming.” with “It’s nothing.”?) Terrible typesetting. etc. etc.
