Fansub Review: [Hatsuyuki] Fate/Zero (Episode 05)

Another good release for a superior anime. Not as good as UTW’s, but still good enough.

Release format: MKV (8-bit, 565 MB), AVI (181 MB)

Japanesiness: Honorifics.

Karaoke.

Opening.

Closing.

I have to say the font on the OP/ED make it kind of distracting. The goal is to enhance the experience of the opening and closing; NOT to overpower it. Not a big fan of what they did here.

Typesetting.

Nothing wrong with this. Suitable.

Script.

This is hilarious. Hatsuyuki actually added in an honorific where it didn’t exist.

Bit redundant there?

Why do groups still fuck this up? It’s not hard to fix.

Watchability: Quite watchable.

Overall grade: B+

While I still recommend UTW as the go-to group for Fate/Zero, Hatsuyuki’s release isn’t all that bad. But the obnoxious karaoke and lack of proper standards (beyond not raising the text above the scrolling Japanese, they actually named a chapter “main_dialouge” on top of making a ridiculous release size) prevent it from being able to go toe-to-toe with that release.

  1. You might review shows that won’t end until next season first (Mirai Nikki, Chihayafuru, Persona 4), we already knew that UTW is superior choice when it comes to Fate/Zero + 1st half F/Z is completed now. Just a suggestion.
