[Silver_zero_subs] Alps no Shoujo Heidi (TV?)

This post was written by Calyrica. She is not Dark_Sage.

Someone wanted to know if this needed resubbing or if these subs are good enough. On another note, I could be spending this time watching good anime, but was stuck with this instead.

And when I say “stuck”, I mean that quite literally. This anime is old and shitty. Why would anyone want to watch this? Well, since I refuse to drop any show (if you go to my MAL, my dropped list is empty), I guess I have to finish this shit someday. Maybe by then there will be subs that are actually decent.

These look like oldsubs, but they’re not. That’s right. This release isn’t even that old. The post releasing this episode was on September 5, 2010.

By the way, I have no idea if this is a TV or DVD or what type of release. I do know this shit originally aired in 1974.

I JUST FUCKING GOT THROUGH A RELEASE WHERE ALL THE TYPESETTING WAS ARIAL ROUND ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Also, why the underline in the English? Why no borders? I can’t fucking read this!

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_14.14_[2013.06.30_19.10.53]

Here’s the insert song. I can’t fucking read this, either.

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_24.42_[2013.06.30_19.22.58]

The ED has the same styling/etc as the OP. Also, here’s a partial list of those to “thank” for these subs.

Typesetting

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_00.02_[2013.06.30_18.54.10]

I think someone wants me to die via Arial Round.

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_00.05_[2013.06.30_18.54.21]

This website still exists, by the way. Also, the sub group is active and still subbing this show.

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_00.26_[2013.06.30_18.54.46]

Fucking hell. Those fonts are NOT for typestting.

I forgive the Arial Round because of how it matches the Japanese text, but match the shade of blue, all right?

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_01.24_[2013.06.30_18.56.08]

It’s not white. It’s a light grey. There’s an eyedropper tool in Aegisub for a reason.

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_24.32_[2013.06.30_19.22.22] [Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_24.37_[2013.06.30_19.22.30]

More staff for you to harass!

Script

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_00.50_[2013.06.30_18.55.20]

If you’re going to punctuate the song, use commas when you need to. Like before “grandfather”, for instance. Also, she’s calling him Grandfather, so capitalize that shit.

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_02.37_[2013.06.30_18.57.25]

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_02.49_[2013.06.30_18.57.40]

Oh, god. This is going to be a recurring theme, isn’t it?

Learn2comma.

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_03.32_[2013.06.30_18.58.31]

So you had to capitalize “Grandfather” before and you didn’t. Here, when you shouldn’t capitalize it, you do.

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_03.58_[2013.06.30_18.59.00]

Great Usage of capital letters.

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_04.02_[2013.06.30_18.59.19]

was -> has been

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_04.11_[2013.06.30_18.59.41]

This is not a complete sentence, yet it ended a section of the episode. There was like a minute of show without any dialogue immediately following this line.

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_05.05_[2013.06.30_19.00.37]

Silver_zero_subs, What are you doing?

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_08.37_[2013.06.30_19.04.15]

Why did you make this two sentences?

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_08.52_[2013.06.30_19.04.32]

listen, sentences start with capital letters.

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_09.08_[2013.06.30_19.04.52]

Im sure you dont know what apostrophes are.

Also, it’s can’t or cannot, not can not.

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_09.29_[2013.06.30_19.05.17]

“the church”? Seriously, everyone just says “church” there.

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_09.37_[2013.06.30_19.05.36]

Wow, is Aunt Dede’s friends like five?

I’m scared of him! If I see him and no one’s with me, I’d run away.

Or something.

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_10.38_[2013.06.30_19.06.40]

Oh, my. Look at your face!

She’s talking to Heidi, so why say ‘that’ instead of ‘your’?

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_10.45_[2013.06.30_19.07.03]

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_10.58_[2013.06.30_19.07.19]

You never put an odd number of commas between the subject and the verb in a sentence.

Subject: the old man
Verb: will send

Therefore, that comma is very very wrong after “the old man”.

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_12.42_[2013.06.30_19.09.08]

I don’t think you know how to use this phrase. And it’s an ugly one.

What’s in the past is in the past.

Just put:

What’s in the past is behind us.

Or something

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_12.47_[2013.06.30_19.09.16]

look, no capitals!

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_15.55_[2013.06.30_19.12.44]

Seriously, every time they don’t need to capitalize this, they do.

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_16.02_[2013.06.30_19.12.54]

how -> what

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_16.52_[2013.06.30_19.13.47]

Again with the odd number of commas.

His father, who died a long time ago, was also a goatherd.

Also, do you need to capitali

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_19.10_[2013.06.30_19.16.24] [Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_19.17_[2013.06.30_19.16.32]

You do not hyphenate this.

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_19.22_[2013.06.30_19.16.39]

So, so, don’t do this.

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_19.28_[2013.06.30_19.16.47]

You do not hyphenate this, either.

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_19.30_[2013.06.30_19.16.53]

What is with their capitalization?

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_19.37_[2013.06.30_19.17.04]

I doubt you even recognize her, since you haven’t seen her since she was a year old.

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_20.11_[2013.06.30_19.17.45]

Can I just be done?

Uncle, I’ve done my duty by watching her for four years.

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_21.34_[2013.06.30_19.19.10]

Come here commas.

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_21.46_[2013.06.30_19.19.24]

Goodbye commas.

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_23.20_[2013.06.30_19.21.02]

-_-

What do you want?

[Silver_zero_Subs]Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi_01 [F5FFED45].mkv_snapshot_23.57_[2013.06.30_19.21.43]

Didn’t even sub the preview. Thank god. No subs is better than these subs.

tl;dr: Whoever you want who wants to sub this, please do so and do it better. Now that I can’t drop this show, I don’t want to be forced to watch these shitty subs. And for those of you who haven’t started this show, DON’T!!!!!

  1. holy crap. thats some really old shit you picked up. this used to air on free tv back in the 90s and it was dubbed in our language. good shit.

cant say the same about these subs tho.

  2. I have to ask: why have a no-dropping policy so rigid that it forces you to watch things you expect to actively hate? It seems like a very strange thing to do for someone with a finite number of minutes left to live.

    • It’s because I want to watch all of the anime I can. My completed list is at 1166. If I want that number to increase, I can’t be too picky. I know it feels like it’s all for the e-peen, but it’s more my OCD. I really enjoy making lists and completing them and stuff.

btw, a lot of people throw around OCD and shit, but I’m actually diagnosed with it, so I hope that makes it more understandable and acceptable for me to do things like that.

      • I can sympathise with that. I have a great deal of difficulty dropping shows, leaving book and game series unfinished, and so on. I guess it’s OK as long as the pleasure you get from the sense of completeness outweighs the pain you have to go through to get there.

        • I’m sorry, but I doubt you do.
OCD is a nasty psychological disorder, you shouldn’t make light of it.

Any way talking about disorders… Seems like this fansub is done by a collective with mental retardation. Or a shared lack of general knowledge in anything that resembles a language…

            • Ah, no I was replying to Humanity and Velorien…
I see no reason not to believe you.

I don’t think they really understand the mental impact of OCD.
I’ll try to explain, please correct me if I’m wrong.

It’s not like people with OCD don’t want to stop with what they are obsessing over (in this case finishing whatever anime you start). It’s more like they can’t.

Also if you don’t fulfill these obsessions they cause a constant form of anxiety right?

That’s the best I can describe it.

              • In fairness, at the time I was writing I don’t think Calyrica had clarified that she literally had OCD as a mental health issue, rather than using it colloquially. I think that might have been edited in afterwards.

Also, unlike your explanation, she framed it in terms of what she enjoys rather than in terms of anxiety triggers, which gives a very different impression to someone like me who has never experienced OCD.

I *have* experienced clinical depression, so there I actually can empathise. My respect to you for continuing to engage in work that requires sustained effort and social interaction.

                Reply
                • I was using it colloquially at first, but then people started to give me shit for it, and I didn’t want to deal with that. If I say it’s a medical condition, people usually shut up. Usually.

Well, my OCD and depression are very linked. I experience severe anxiety over things, and then that makes me become depressed. Medicated, I just get panic attacks every now and then, but my mood doesn’t swing nearly as bad. It’s the OCD that causes the most damage to the social side of things, but if my relationships are going well, I usually don’t have any problems. Again, usually.

OCD does manifest differently in different people. Mine is most like what I just described. My aunt, however, has very severe OCD to the point where it takes her upwards of twenty minutes to use a public restroom because of all the rituals she has to follow and such. And that’s with medication as well. So I completely understand the confusion.

  3. I would just like to mention that this fansub is all about shitty portuguese freelancers that grouped together to do this piece of shit. I know them and they are very very proud of their release, although the fucking shit you all see.

    • I noticed that their later releases were multilingual, which is super cool. Major points to them for that at least. However, I wish they’d ask for help if they’re not proficient enough in English to do a decent release.

  4. neo1024 or whatever he’s called is subbing this. You can find it on nyaa labelled as “haiji”. I think that, like this, is a translation from spanish or something, but I can’t be sure.
