If your fingers are paddling through the water, they’re necessarily moist already.

Main Script.

[Hatsuyuki]_Free!_-_02_[10bit][1280x720][E29CC0BD].mkv_snapshot_00.05_[2013.07.13_00.50.37] [Hatsuyuki]_Free!_-_02_[10bit][1280x720][E29CC0BD].mkv_snapshot_09.03_[2013.07.13_00.55.20]

Lines can get pretty generic at times in this release. The worst part is that in the script comments, Hatsuyuki’s staff actually call these lines out… but do nothing to fix them.

Guys, if a line sounds like it was written by Google Translate, that should be fixed. Editing is about more than just spellcheck. Think of what an actual human would say in these situations to get the necessary points across and then edit the lines as such.

[Hatsuyuki]_Free!_-_02_[10bit][1280x720][E29CC0BD].mkv_snapshot_00.27_[2013.07.12_21.40.17]

100-meter

It’s used as an adjective here.

[Hatsuyuki]_Free!_-_02_[10bit][1280x720][E29CC0BD].mkv_snapshot_03.20_[2013.07.12_22.28.07]

They do say Ama-chan Sensei in the Japanese script, I guess… so I can’t really fault Hatsuyuki for this. But I really want to, because this is fucking retarded.

[Hatsuyuki]_Free!_-_02_[10bit][1280x720][E29CC0BD].mkv_snapshot_03.35_[2013.07.12_22.28.30]

No comma there.

[Hatsuyuki]_Free!_-_02_[10bit][1280x720][E29CC0BD].mkv_snapshot_05.11_[2013.07.12_22.31.22] [Hatsuyuki]_Free!_-_02_[10bit][1280x720][E29CC0BD].mkv_snapshot_05.12_[2013.07.12_22.31.27]

Comma splicing is killing fansubbing. Please, think of the fansubbers.

[Hatsuyuki]_Free!_-_02_[10bit][1280x720][E29CC0BD].mkv_snapshot_11.56_[2013.07.12_22.51.58]

You need to be a little more specific here. “You guys are still young, so it’s not a problem for you.”

She’s saying it’s a problem, but only for her and not for them.

[Hatsuyuki]_Free!_-_02_[10bit][1280x720][E29CC0BD].mkv_snapshot_13.50_[2013.07.12_22.54.37]

I think you can guess what’s wrong here.

[Hatsuyuki]_Free!_-_02_[10bit][1280x720][E29CC0BD].mkv_snapshot_17.57_[2013.07.12_22.58.56]

If you’re gonna go weird mode with the “Big Brother”, “Little Sister” stuff, make sure to capitalize it properly.

[Hatsuyuki]_Free!_-_02_[10bit][1280x720][E29CC0BD].mkv_snapshot_21.01_[2013.07.13_01.04.53]

I have no fucking idea what was just tossed in. Find out what they threw in the pool and then substitute its name for “these”. Yes, it’s your responsibility.

Ask your TLC or something. My best guess is they’re chlorine tablets.

Fansubber Comments

Yep, you’re getting these this season too!

Spoiler:

But not for Hatsuyuki. Their comments sucked. Have some Gou instead.

Not bad. I don’t see any reason to avoid Hatsuyuki’s subs for this show. NSOnii asked me to review episodes 3+, so I’ll be taking a look at those later in this season. Until I determine which is the best of the two, I’m confident in saying you’d be fine with Hatsuyuki’s version.

  1. Hatsuyuki is mostly awesome. My only pet peeve is that they hardsub their KFX. I wish they do not do that but it has the benefit of not slowing down your PC during the OP and ED. However, that mean if someone wants to do a BD using their subs, that means they have to manually do the KFX and timing, which is definitely time consuming and you can’t turn it off if you want to.

    • Hatsuyuki is just a beginner at encoding. Unlike other groups where they can use attachment’s properly this group tend to hardsub their op/ed plus sometimes whatever they typeset because they just suck at it so much. That its easier for them to just do it this way. So if you want to watch in raw better download a raw.

      • That’s understandable. My POV is from someone who wants to use their subs in a release which mean they have to take the extra effort to typeset and do the KFX.

Nothing is wrong if we are just watching :)

        • I think they would give whoever wanted to use their scripts to use in releases. Just got to ask in channel/website. But considering they are a 3 year+ subgroup that don’t know how to use attachments in MKV very well…

It might be better to use someone else OP/ED KFX to save time.

          • I hope you do know that there are other reason as to why people hard sub karaoke. If they soft sub the script, then I’m pretty sure Hatsu would know how to mux. There’s no difference in muxing the script and muxing KFX. The main reason for Hatsu to hard sub is because either they don’t want the KFX to get stuck on shitty computers or they don’t want people to steal their KFX. Now if you’re gonna say they shouldn’t hard sub so BD groups could use their KFX, that’s stupid. Not everyone allows others to take their work on release it under their name. And maybe Hatsu has plans to do the BDs for this show or any show they sub.

      • Beginner? Just because the OP/ED is hardsubbed doesn’t mean it’s a beginner’s encode. It’s being the KFX is generally strong and sometimes lags when played. Compare the encodes between the release if you want. ^^ Also, for BD groups or foreign fansubbers, if you email them, they will give it to you.

          • Alright. When did that happen. The only time I remember any hard subbed typesetting was in the Samurai Bride release, in which we used a png file as a color, so it needed to he hard subbed. For example, http://puu.sh/3EN9S.png <- That's not a simple color.
AFX is always hard subbed because it's AFX. But those are used on Logos and Attack effects.

          • Learn what you preach before you preach what you preach mate. Hatsuyuki doesn’t always hardsub their typesetting, its normally a rare occurrence. As for the OP/ED, yeah, they’re hardsubbed, but that’s more of a preference rather then their level of ability. Heck, if they were really beginners at attachments, like you’ve said, then the entire dialog would’ve been typeset too.

            • I’ve seen some groups that hardsub all of text using mkv format. Hatsu isn’t that bad yet. But really my point still stands as they hardsub their OP/ED and some typesetting with Kaitou both confirmed and gave examples of a recent one.

Now hardsubs are preference but I would expect much more than that from a group that releases 4 different formats for one episode. For example, avi, mp4, 8bit mkv, 10bit mkv. I guess thats to appease people with different machines.

Now I my opinion of them as beginners means that I do not expect a lot out of them as a group.

Hearing you guys whine about that makes me laugh tho. thanks

    • When did it become custom practice to softsub op/ed? I’ve seen a few groups with softsubbed op and ed (I’m also in a few that softsub) but if you want some of the flashier kara, it has to be hardsubbed purely because it slows your computer down too much trying to play it!

Personally, I’ve never been much on kara anyway (except a brief phase when I learnt how to kara-time back in 2006) and I’d much rather just see simple kara’s with decent colour choices than rainbows out the wazoo.

    • Hatsuyuki’s problem is with their dick-as-balls awful naming method for their torrents.

I mean really, how do they expect my RSS feed bot to properly get the right version of their releases? They don’t need three different releases. Just be like Commie and flip the bird to all those 8-bit fags.

And really who watches in SD these days? Fuggin’ eyecancer.

But hey I can’t really complain. S’not like it ain’t free.

      Reply
      • People with crappy internet use SD. People who aren’t allowed to torrent because of virus-paranoid old parents who don’t know jack about computers. People who are financially unstable use SD. People who don’t care enough to set up KMP or WMP with the proper filters and still use VCR.

Okay, only the last one’s really a crime, but still. Try to understand before you jump the gun to judge.

  2. Not sure if you were trying to point out typesetting efforts here, but the splash screen is written in English in the raw version of the video (so there isn’t actually any translation typesetting at all).

    Reply
    • No I wasn’t. Just threw the image to show that they included the screen at the end. Some groups take those out when they’re included.

  3. Such minor problems… I understand perfectionism all too well, but it feels like overreacting. I’ve yet to see NSOnii’s release, but theirs is my favourite, especially nearer to the time of release.
How is Ama-chan sensei stupid? :/ Do you want them to just change it to Ama-sensei? (I’ll throw Ms. Amakata out the window) I’d probably yell in my head about them being unfaithful to the original meaning. And Ama-chan without the sensei is rude. I hope you’re not also complaining about “Rin-chan-san”, because to change that would just kill the joke.
“Lines can get pretty generic at times in this release.” …O _o Those sound /fine/.
The comma splicing /is/ pretty irritating, I’ll give you that. Not sure if that’s actually an ignorant grammatical error or a typo.
The font they used for the text on the pink phone is eye cancerous.

What I like about them most is their karaoke effects. They’re always gorgeous, and they put thought into it. Ripples for Free, Rukh for Magi. Their early lyrics have errors, but that’s usually before the official lyrics are released, so I don’t really blame them that much… I don’t know if they fix those later, but they probably don’t.
