Oushitsu Kyoushi Haine

Short jokes: the anime.

Gay jokes: the anime.

Overplayed tropes: the anime.

tl;dr: This is little more than fujobait trash. But it hasn’t drained my soul yet, so maybe I’ll give it another ep or two.

Really looking forward to how hot the token girl ends up, tbh. If she’s Gou-tier I may have to watch this till the end. (I won’t.)

Clockwork Planet

No judging here; you miss every shot you don’t take.

Can I just rewatch Gad Guard? This show’s an unsettling combination of Rozen Maiden, Dansai Bunri, and those fuckwad nu-nerds who think “steampunk” counts as cosplay.

(Okay, I kinda like the characters, but don’t tell anyone.)

Sure, this first episode was okay, mostly cuz all the chicks are cunts and that makes for top entertainment. But I am pretty sure Clockwork has no upward mobility. Like, the plot of the next episode is that “the military” is secretly planning to destroy Kyoto because… uhh, they don’t really have a reason — they’re just evil cuz fighting is bad or something.

Hard to imagine why anyone looking at this fast-track to stupid would wanna stick around for the next ep.

Oh wait, now I remember.

Hinako Note

This is so funny. I am laughing out loud. Boy Japan, how do you come up with such witty comedy?

Silly faces too?! Holy shit, I’ve never laughed so hard.

Even dullards who think cute girls doing cute things is the epitome of storytelling will probably get tired of the ever-repeated jokes in the show. MC-chan is sometimes mistaken for a scarecrow, blue-hair is hungry and sometimes eats books, yellow wears dresses even though she’s short…

Like, shit, there’s nothing even inherently funny about those things. But every fucking joke comes back to one of them.

Has comedy gone too far?

If you ever want to smile again, skip this shit and just watch Rokudenashi.

Meganebu! Kabukibu!

“Kabuki is so cool, I think we should make a high school club for it!” – some retard, probably

*some retard, actually

Look dude, I think traps are cool too, but I don’t know if I’d start an entire fucking school club for ’em.

Agreed.

Suppose if you were one of those theater kids who thought they were Japanese cuz they watched some dipshits perform taiko poorly once and also had a boredom fetish, this’d be the kinda show for you. People of value are free to move on, though.

Twin Angel BREAK

Maybe it doesn’t make sense to write about the sequel to a show you never watched in the first place. But it sure as goddamn well fills up space on a page. So here we are.

Girls grow up so quickly.

This show has little more to offer than your standard mahou shoujo, except for MC-chan who is straight up based af.

Genki. Can’t read the room. Probably good at thumb wars. Yup, that’s the ideal waifu. (Sorry Eruna, but Mikagura necessitated our breakup.)

God, I just want to have a consensual, committed relationship with her underarms.

The other characters may not be much to write to Crymore about, but their interactions with MC-chan are sure as fuck enjoyable.

Plus, I dunno, there’s relevant social commentary or something.

Just fucking watch it. You like things, right? (Don’t answer that — I’m not a licensed therapist.)

Busou Shoujo Machiavellianism

This show is really ugly.

Busou Machiavelli shouldn’t be good. Because, well, it isn’t. This is budget shounen in every sense of the phrase.

A budget best girl is still a best girl though.

But the moment I let facts impact my taste is the moment I lose myself as a man. And I’m not just saying that cuz I’ve been waiting for a show where I can watch a guy beat the shit out of women every episode.

Bitches get stitches.

Tsugumono

You know, Japan, if you’re not gonna try, I’m not going to either. Dropped after three minutes.

Sakura Quest

I really thought I wasn’t gonna like Sakura Quest. C’mon, a show about some happy anime girls promoting a rural town cuz :yay:? Easy +1 drop.

Nice subs, Cruncyhroll.

Yet the show at least somewhat addresses how nobody wants to live in the country. Hell, I’m from small-town Minnesota and I can tell you it sucks. The only thing to fuck there is your liver.

If we get some brutal honesty about the pros and cons of rural life throughout the series, I might even gain some respect back for the anime industry.

But I anticipate 01 was primarily to set the show up as more than just pretty girls doing pretty things in a small town, and afterward we’re gonna get a correction to little other than what we expect.

Please show me up, Nipponia.

Try 3: Souryo to Majiwaru Shikiyoku no Yoru ni

My quest for tolerable subs continues.

Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata Flat

(2 MB)

…You know, maybe I should go back and finish season 1.

    • The only parts of the Boruto write-up that were not 100% srs mode were “I_found_this_image_on_pof_lol.jpg” (Google Images apparently scrapes even the bottom of the barrel) & the bit about missing fansubs.

Like, who wouldn’t be flipping their shit when the show panned to Boruto’s village headband cut through the middle? Oh man, I bet there’s a super serious part after a couple cours where he ends up torn between his duty to the village and his duty to his friend, and ends up forced to “abandon” the village cuz it’s the only way, Otaku-san. It’s the only way.

  1. Good call on dropping Tsugumono so quickly. It’s one of those types of shows where you can predict all the developments long before they actually happen. It’s pure trope-filled garbage. Nothing more.

  2. If I knew you’d be posting this season, I’d have saved myself the time wasted sampling new anime. Hoping for a part IV. I’m curious to know your opinion of Eromanga, Zero kara Hajimeru Mahou no Sho and Sakurada Reset.

So far the strongest first episodes were Re:Creators and Virgin Soul; MAPPA was throwing around their animation budget like there is no tomorrow. As for comedy, Rokudenashi did make me laugh and Renai Boukun was okay-ish. It’s shaping up to be a fairly good season.

  3. Hi

I know maybe this is somehow unrelated to topic, But I like to know your opinion on available fansubing groups.
I know A lot of good fansubing groups are gone and a lot of available groups just use and edit CR subs. But I like to know in current state how you rank current groups subs(based on accuracy, style, …).
I personally like FFF and GJM. But I somehow like a big list. For example is DameDesuYo good(I don’t like them personally). How you rank subbing groups which are still alive. Anyway you like to select ‘bad’ between ‘bad’ and ‘worse’…

    • It’s probably something like this. Are there even any other groups out there now?

      GJM
      Mezashite
      DDY
      FFF
      Hatsuyuki
      Commie

      • Hiriyuu, I’m not sure alive or not, last update was 11 feb.
Coalgirls, I don’t know if they are alive or not. I saw a strange update in last post yesterday, it seems they wana do something.
The ones that still update and I know of:
Someone told that Asenshi subs are good,I don’t know myself.
I don’t know where I should place horriblesubs(I get Conan from them, because they are only one releasing it).
        Where you place doki?
Tsundere is still doing some subbing.
Other two that comes to my mind are sallysubs and kametsu(kametsu normally just editing other groups).

Maybe there are more, but cannot remember.

        • I suppose on the average it’d be something like this:

          GJM
          Mezashite
          Asenshi
          DDY
          Hiryuu
          HorribleSubs
          Doki
          FFF
          Coalgirls
          Hatsuyuki
          Commie

what about sallysubs and tsundere(I personally like tsundere, not sure about quality).

Ty for rank BTW . :)

            Reply
            • I dunno, I just download their releases cuz they’re often the only ones available, don’t think I’ve ever sat down to watch anything by SallySubs or Tsundere.

Chihiro would be like… mm, current-day? Right around Doki then.
